Virtual
Desktop
Infrastructure

VDI is the acronym for an architectural concept that provides centralization of PCs in a virtualized environment and its  remote Graphical access.

The physical workstation becomes a thin client terminal that accesses a service called a Connection Broker, which is in charge of managing virtual desktop states and assigning them to users based on administrator policies.

Praim by Praim Thin Clients support all the most commonly used Connection Broker services available in the market, eg:

Citrix XenDesktop
 Ericom WebConnect
Leostream
 Provision Networks

and now also

VMware
Virtual Desktop Manager 2.1

Praim announces the VDM 2.1 Native client, expanding Praim's Thin Client
VDI connectivity options

Available on all Praim Thin Clients, the VDM Native client enables access to the VMware VDI
Virtual Desktop Manager 2.1 infrastructure

The new client is available for all Praim Thin Client models and allows native access to virtual desktops hosted in a VMware infrastructure managed through VMware Virtual Desktop Manager 2.1.

Designed and developed by the Praim Research and Development team according to the VMware specifications, the new VDM Native Client is currently available for the  Linux and CE.Net Thin Client product lines. Support for the XP Embedded models is available using the native VMware 32 bit client.

The native client enables direct connections to the VMware Virtual Desktop Manager 2.1 service without requiring a browser or Java Virtual Machine (JVM) support. This significantly decreases the time to connect to the Desktop Manager while increasing the performance of the connection.

The native VDM 2.1 client is also available on the Praim entry level Thin Client models, offering an optimal price/performance ratio for achieving a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.

"The development of this client represents Praim's ongoing commitment to the implementation of major emerging technologies in our product lines" reports Stefano Bonmassar, Praim's Thin Client Product Manager,  "the technological partnership with VMware enabled us to rapidly develop the VDM 2.1 client with the benefit of offering our customers an additional option in connecting to a VDI architecture."

The client is available in 3 main product lines: ino, Compact and Ultra for a total of thirteen models.

Praim also announces 2 new Linux models, the XT5-800 and XT7-800, (which also include the VDM client) which round out the Praim Thin Client product line.
