Starting from version 2.10.0 of Agile, the possibility to configure the video priorities of the managed devices in every detail, thus being able to easily configure and replicate dozens or hundreds of multi-monitor workstations in a few clicks has been introduced.
In all contexts of application of information technologies, the needs are constantly growing, whether it’s performance, new functions or an increasing scalability of the solutions adopted. When it comes to digital workstations, then, among the many aspects to consider there is also that of video peripherals, that is, the support and use of monitors with an ever higher quality… but also in increasing numbers.
This management is not always linear and, for the IT administrator, can represent a very onerous task, especially when there’s a need for flexibility, when support becomes more complex (number of monitors, cloning, disposition) and/or the number of workstations involved is growing.
The management of monitors is one of the aspects that often varies most between different systems (for example between Windows and Linux) and which is more subject to local variables (type of monitor, position, cabling) and manual configuration actions that must be carried out directly on the operating system of the single device, thus nullifying automation and scalability.
Agile – Multi-monitor setup
With the release of version 2.10.0 Agile family has introduced an important innovation that allows for flexible and at the same time massive and automated configuration of the video aspects of multi-monitors workstations.
Agile, in its Agile4PC version for Windows or Agile4Linux for Ubuntu MATE, directly offers the possibility to configure in detail the desired video options for your device, even in the case of multi-monitors. The configuration created on a device can be collected and automatically distributed and replicated on an unlimited number of workstations through ThinMan. How does it work?
Through Agile it’s possible to set every detail of the video configuration, by accessing the section “System Settings” – “Screens“.
Configuration example with Agile in the case of multi-monitors (4 monitors connected)
Here the Agile configurator allows to identify all connected monitors and drives the IT administrator in configuring the identified monitors. The customization possibilities ensure flexibility and support for any use!
In particular, for each monitor it’s possible to configure RESOLUTION and ROTATION with a few clicks. Furthermore, in the case of multi-monitors, it’s possible to freely position and align them in the graphic space, creating the most useful arrangement for your application needs. It’s possible to define the primary monitor and, for each one, to choose which to organize in extension and which in cloning.
All this by working just on Agile interface and without having to manipulate the operating system’s configurations, with a great benefit: Agile’s configuration profiles are cross-platform, therefore the same configuration carried out on a device Windows in Agile4PC can be directly reused and replicated effortlessly on Linux in Agile4Linux… just 2 clicks from ThinMan!
Conclusions
The new versions of Praim Agile enhance the tools available to IT administrators, considerably simplifying the activities necessary for the configuration and management of workstations even when it’s necessary to set up numerous multi-monitor workstations in a scalable and automated way.
From version 2.10.0, Agile allows a replicable and automatable through ThinMan screens configuration, without having to access the properties of the operating system and regardless of whether you are on Windows or Linux devices, indeed… allowing a single configuration that can be directly used across the two types of devices.
