My experience at Citrix ServTech

After coming back from Warsaw I had the chance to think about my experience at Citrix ServTech, a technical event dedicated to staff and partners of the American virtualization vendor: during the week I had the opportunity to share ideas with people who will be among the architects of the future of IT. I am sure innovation is made first from people than ideas, and this belief has been strenghtened by an event which has been able to attract visionary and passionate, as well as super competent people.

It seemed to me that the direction taken by Citrix is really in line with the innovation and the development which I want to pursue within Praim products. In my opinion, one of the problems which has made the virtualization of the desktop within companies difficult, is the fact that often it forgets to consider the end user of the system: it provides excpetional tools from the point of view of management, updating, control and all that concerns the manual operations that make the IT admin’s life impossible. Unfortunately, backups, updates, applications management are activities which people do not notice, because they realize them when something bad happens. They are taken for granted. Desktop virtualization created new use cases: how to give this perception to the company? And now the Cloud bring other news and lead to eliminate the need to have an internal IT admin located inside the company.

The Citrix Workspace Hub moved finally the attention to the final user, which can really touch a different way of perceiving his work tools, as something which is always available to him. This is not a revolutionary concept from the technological point of view, probably the individual elements that make up the solution were already present for some time, but have been combined to offer the user of the digital workspace a simpler and intuitive method of access to applications. I think time has come to make users feel “virtualized” as owners of an iPhone and not a Nokia 3310 (indestructible, which consumes very little, but also quite “vintage”).

It was nice to be part of all of this, because our ThinMan Smart Identity solution was born from the same concepts. Having the opportunity to demonstrate our authentication solution, also implemented on Berry, the new Thin Client based on Raspberry Pi3 B+ to very competent persons, and see them appreciate the care given to all the details has increased my belief on be on the right way. The way which will lead more and more users to be more satisfied with their new way of working.
